All I have to say, is that an ace high flush, even with a pair on the board, is deffinatly a +EV hand, and will be VERY profitable over the long haul.

Hope the .50 flop bet is the " I want to see the turn cheaply with my draw" bet and not the "I have second pair and connector kicker but felt I should bet to charge the flush draw something" bet.

I would play it about the same way, possible lead on turn since I'm not all that much for check-raising, but this is a case where I might use it, so I say your actual play was very nice.

I prefer a lead as lots of guys check behind with just an 8.

I've developed a preference for this. A checkraise makes it pretty clear that you are representing the made flush, but when you lead at the pot it's easy for people to talk themselves into misreading your hand. Against opponents who may still give credit and fold on the turn, I'll sometimes check-call the turn and lead the river, especially in this case where your flush is the nut flush.

Basically though, I just try to avoid checkraises against decent opponents, except for certain cases where the checkraise is all-in or nearly all-in.
