Fold to the flop check/raise. What do you think he'd have that he 3-bets preflop that you could possibly beat at this point?

Your PF cap is for initiative, there's not a whole ton of value to it. You get your initiative on the flop in the situation where you want it most and he doesn't fold. Fold the the CR.

my thinking was that when a player this aggressive and in a blind steal situation checkraises an ace high/dry board it's often not for value - he would usually wait till the turn. is that way off?

If that's the case, why did you fold the turn? I'd think either fold to the CR or call down.

Is this guy the 10/20 type that always 3-bets when defending heads up? If so, I would rather call the 3-bet preflop and take the initiative back by raising the flop. Heads up against these guys I really like to get to showdown, and I think they respect postflop raises more than bets. By respect I mean they either fold or actually have a hand when they raise.

One other thought... Say you will only cap with 77-AA and AK/AQs, and you will ditch an underpair on an Ace high board. Does this type of player check/raise any Ace high flop and bet the turn when you don't three bet? I'm not saying you want to assume that all the time, but you need to look these guys up some of the time either with a turn cheap showdown raise, or three bet the flop, bet the turn, check behind on the river line.

yeah calling the flop and folding the turn make no sense...i knew that as i was playing the hand but couldn't bring myself to pay 2 more BB for a showdown.

Sorry for the question format, but yeah I these LAGs love raising the ace high board when they put you on an underpair. In this particular hand I would have folded to the flop check-raise, unless this guy had been check-raising all sorts of flops against me and I felt I needed to take a stand.

Edit: Meant to respond to your other post where you simply asked "Do they?"
