Re: Most over-rated / under-rated hold \'em starting hands?
KQ is totally underrated. it gives you bluffing ability on an A if it flops (and you raised PF), and plus when others hit their broadway you hit straight opps. Plus it would seem a pair of Qs gets more action than a paired A or K (at least in SS when you raise PF).

Re: Most over-rated / under-rated hold \'em starting hands?
[ QUOTE ]
Maybe its a mental thing with how I play it, or a ridiculous streak, but T8s has made more BB/100 than everything but AA and KK over my past 100,000 hands... this said, I now open-raise it from any position [/ QUOTE ] haha funny coincidence but T7s is the same way for me i have actually hit 2 straight flushes at least somewhat recently with T7s, one i flopped on BB. i dunno why but it seems to work. i think most overrated hand has to be playing k-10 or q-10 for pairs when your almost always outkicked. or weak aces even suited when u dont catch a flush draw. only an ace. |

Re: Most over-rated / under-rated hold \'em starting hands?
Be careful of the Poker room stats since they show how well the hand has actually done and don't show how well the hand SHOULD have done. Idiots who call all the way with 22 will certainly lose money with 22, but that doesn't mean its unprofitable when weilded more sensibly.

Re: Most over-rated / under-rated hold \'em starting hands?
give me QQ over A2s any day. you need to learn that weak players play obvious, if an overcard to your QQ comes and they bet/call you are likely beat. you have to know how to get value from it and how to get away from it cheaply. A2s has huge implied odds if you catch your flop but it will lose to the fish playing A5o more often than it will catch its flush.

Re: Most over-rated / under-rated hold \'em starting hands?
most overrated is Ace King. Its a really good hand, but also hard to get away from post flop even if u dont make anything. AK vs. 87 preflop is around 60/40. I the flop comes and u dont make anything u hate to fold it.

Re: Most over-rated / under-rated hold \'em starting hands?
yah i know what you're saying... i do raise very strongly but i play very low limits because of my financial situation (aka i am 18 and saving for college)... because of this i play with a lot of "dense" people.. fish

Re: Most over-rated / under-rated hold \'em starting hands?
Most under-rated hands are K8s and K9s. These are way better than JTo which is badly over-rated.
