Default quads river check

to me this seems like the obvious river play. anyone disagree?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (9 handed) converter

MP1 ($40)
MP2 ($107.75)
MP3 ($34.45)
CO ($56.40)
Button ($43.05)
Hero ($85.15)
BB ($137.85)
UTG ($45.50)
UTG+1 ($50)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls $1, MP1 folds, MP2 calls $1, MP3 calls $1, CO calls $1, Button calls $1, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: ($7) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="blue">(7 players)</font>
Hero bets $6, BB folds, UTG+1 calls $6, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO folds, Button folds.

Turn: ($19) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="blue">(2 players)</font>
Hero bets $15, UTG+1 calls $15.

River: ($49) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="blue">(2 players)</font>
Hero checks, UTG+1 bets $28 (All-In), Hero calls $28.

Final Pot: $105
<font color="#990066">Main Pot: $105, between Hero and UTG+1.</font> &gt; <font color="white">Pot won by Hero ($105).</font>

Results in white below: <font color="white">
UTG+1 shows Ts Qc (one pair, nines).
Hero shows 9d 9h (four of a kind, nines).
Outcome: Hero wins $105. </font>

Yes, because I don't think you are gonna get called by that many hands. JT would have raised you on the turn probably, this particular hand looks like a flush draw. This looks like a perfect place to induce a bluff. I like it.

Any answer that doesn't include "It depends on the opponent" is clearly wrong. And it should also depend on your own table image.

Against those idiots who I have seen call 3 pot-sized bets with bottom pair, I would bet out every time. Against some of the overaggressive players, I would have check-called the turn and then checked the river as well.

But I'll agree, against a completely unknown player, a check to induce a bluff is the play I would make the highest percentage (though not all) of the time in this specific case.
