Help me a buy 2 CRT\'s
Basically I want to buy 2 CRT monitors seeing as the Dell LCD is a little too costly for me. I am not sure if I should go 19 or 21" for the CRT. I would like ones that are not too bulky (I have an old old 21" monitor which is like 3 feet deep and barely fits on my desk. I am looking for something relatively thin where it wont pertrude 3 feet from the wall.
I am diggin through the archives and cant find anything worth it. I stumbled upon this. Viewsonic 19" Flat Screen I remember Cubswin posted some cheap monitors from Office Depot I think. I also heard CRT has a better picture than LCD, is this true? Should I go with a brand name monitor. Keep in mind they must go 1600x1200. Will 21" be better than 19, and not be too bulky? I am willing to spend around $5-600 combined. Cheaper if possible, I just dont know what monitors you guys have and like. As of now I am leaning towards two of those. Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: Help me a buy 2 CRT\'s
I have a Dell 19" M993 CRT which I'm very happy with. They average around $249 new and often are available with free shipping (a big bonus).
No expert alert, verify this: If you're going for two, I believe that you'll need a video card with two analog outputs. |

Re: Help me a buy 2 CRT\'s
I have the dual vid card currently running a crap 15" LCD and a ghastly lookin 21" CRT. The CRT is so old with broken buttons so I cant adjust the brightness etc... The LCD resolution eats. I will check out that monitor though, thanks.

Re: Help me a buy 2 CRT\'s
I use 3 21" CRTs, the last two I purchased were off lease IBM P260s, $145 each. They have awsome picture quality, I'm very happy with them. You'll save a ton on shipping if you can find a used computer place in your area.
All CRTs I've seen have similar "bulkiness" as others of same screen size. I highly recommend 21" instead of 19" if you have the desk space, it's easier on the eyes. Sony has the best CRTs IMO, but keep in mind dozens of brands are actually made by Sony (my IBMs for example). |

Re: Help me a buy 2 CRT\'s
BTW, between me, my employer and my friends I've seen and used about 12 refurbished CRTs and only one had problems (I think it was due to being close to a sub woofer though).

Re: Help me a buy 2 CRT\'s
I remember someone posted a link to some Sony monitor in a recent debate that was $245 for a 21" CRT. He swore by those monitors.
I cant dig it up but I know it was in the middle of some CRT or LCD post which there are like 10 of in the last week. I cant find that link if anyone knows what I am talking about. I'll look into a couple of local stores by me, but the chances of finding 2 matching monitors so my room doesnt look like total crap wont be too likely. |

Re: Help me a buy 2 CRT\'s
I was searching around for a monitor as well and found this dell 19 inch CRT for $149.95 with only 2.95 shipping. Anyone have any opinions on this one?

Re: Help me a buy 2 CRT\'s
I fully agree with the refurbished post! I recently found 21" CRT's in excellent condition for $145. If you are like my wife, and will DIE without a warranty there are several good deals to be found on new 19" CRT's as well.
