I listen to music because I have to listen to it in certain places.

I'm with TopSet. I'm not into music.

I think most people listen to it for a variety of reasons, but I think it's mainly a social mechanism.

Sometimes the reason I listen to music is because it brings to mind a pleasant memory, or a not-so-pleasent one when I'm in the mood to dwell in my own sorrow. It's a venue of escape, a relaxation, forget the world and just concentrate on the music. Everyone has thier "out". Mine and alot of other's is music.

it is probably wired into the reward center of the brain; i.e. it is
probably instinctually pleasurable..
