My Evil Empire comment was meant as a latter-day poke at the Spurs' recent success...not to say that they are to basketball what the Yanks are to baseball. However, considering that in the past 20 years only five teams have won the championship, I would contend not so much that there is one evil empire, but that there is a large community of peasant rebels in the landscape of the NBA.
