I'd 3-bet the flop and lead the turn even if capped; while a draw seems unlikely given that he coldcalled preflop, I'm holding a strong but very vulnerable hand and I don't want to risk a free card.

Given the way you played it, I don't see any other options vs. an unknown. Getting 3-bet after you check/raised the turn usually means you're toast, but it's hard to imagine any hand that you're toast to which just coldcalls from the button (the case fours maybe, but that's a bit of a stretch).
