I don't think this thread has paid enough attention to this, which seems to be the most egregious violation of protocol here.

I think the reason #1 was ignored to an extent is that it is so obviouse that it is wrong that it didnt really need discussing

Yea, they do have a website. But there's a reason that I (and most everyone else that plays at these places) don't want their addresses all over this website. It just isn't a good idea to have that stuff on a public internet forum.

EDIT: Apparently the UBB code for links isn't working. I had an old post about this. If you want to look at it wearch for one of my posts called "Anyone with questions about NYC" in this forum, it was on 11-16-04.

I have no idea. I've never played at apc. I know some other clubs say they have backgammon, but I've never seen a game being played while I was there.

APC hosts regular backgammon tournaments. Not sure about it being played at other times.

NYPC only has one set that I've ever seen and it's in use maybe half the time. Usually people who are very serious playing for money while wasting time between poker.

I have played backgammon at NYPC -- twice... for a change of pace... won $40 once, lost $85 the second time (and no rake/time charge!). APC also has backgammon boards and their website talks about monthly backgammon tournaments.

I actually noticed a sign by the counter at NYPC listing the new 2005 hourly rates for backgammon. I suspect they don't actually charge people who are just playing to waste time, if anyone.

Charging for backgammon?!? damn... I was there during the day last week and saw four older men huddling around the table -- maybe its popular with the retired crowd.

Which game(s) do you play? My guess is we have played together...

Yeah, I'd bet on that.

Last night I was playing 5/5 but I usually play 1/2. I'll likely be back tonight playing 5/5 again to make up for last nights debacle.

I would have made a scene when he pulled the cards back out. I think confrontations are a thing that makes poker more enjoyable.
