Getting out of this mode is very hard. I've been in it for over six months and I'm still not close to getting out of it. I think some serious live hours might help. Maybe you should try that.

Good news and bad news.

Good news is that I think "serious live hours" would be just the thing. There's something implanted into my brain (and, I imagine, many players' brains) that makes me take everything more seriously when there's clay clicking and my fingernails are getting muddy. Arbitrary, but true.

Bad news is I live in Tampa, Florida.

Good news is I'll be in the Bahamas from the 5th through the 12th, so I'll be able to get some "serious live hours" under my belt.

Bad news is I don't even feel like going, the way I've been feeling about poker in general lately.

Good news is I don't really have to play if I don't feel like it, except for the main event, of course. Truth is, when I feel like this, tournaments don't bother me nearly as badly as cash games.

So I guess I'll just consider it a week away from the Arctic winter hell of Tampa, with a little poker on the side.

So I'll prolly stick to the event, and maybe a little therapeutic $30/$60 or something. My guess is that any bigger side action would be precisely what I do NOT need right now, anyway.

Ok, then. Therapy.

If I may make a suggestion, go to the essays page and Ray Zee on the Different Stages in a Player's Life. It will give you some perspective on what, it seems to me, you already know.

Merry Xmas

1. Play one, and only one, table at a lower limit. 5-10 or lower.
...
4. Do this three days in a row for a minimum of 2 hours.

This sounds more like punishment than anything. -1- game?
