Default Wierd Hand...I should learn something from!

Below is possibly one of the oddest hands I have ever played. I cannot convert the hand, so I'll copy the history of the text into the post so that you can play it back in PT. My thoughts come after the hand text, but I need to learn something from this hand, and I feel like I have yet to do so. I am CptnNemo

****HAND ENDS****

So this is where I think I went wrong. 1) I should have folded preflop with 44 in the early position especially after the raise.

2) I should have not bet the flop, or the turn

Why did I do this? I typically call pocket pairs to see if I have trips or highest pair on the flop. If so I will continue to play them, if not I fold (if you want to discuss this by all means). In this hand, the flop came, and I felt I had the best hand because of the preflop raise (meant high cards, but it was a single raise). So I bet. Why I bet on the turn? I have no idea...maybe to induce a fold. I don't think I was thinking it through. Should I have checked the river? I feel like I should have...I know I beat the odds on this hand, but please tell me where I went wrong, because too many times I play this hand exactly like I did, and I definately don't win.

I would have let go after that re-raise on the flop.
I wouldnt have bet the turn either.
Someone has something and its better than a pair of 4's.

Did you notice how many players are in on the flop/turn/river??

I won't comment on the rest of the hand, but this is wrong. At this point, Hero is getting 18:1 to call, with the possibility of being reraised again or capped. This makes it slightly worse, call it 16:1.

We have 2 set outs, which can be discounted a little in case we lose to like 1.6. We then have 4 cards that give us 8 straight outs and 8 cards that give us 4 outs. Thats about 64/47 or 1.4 more outs. We can cut this to about 1.2. Even so, we have 2.8 outs, which is enough to continue here, without even considering implied odds.

You know what you did, stop doing it.

P.S I don't know your table but if you get that sweet table with 4-5 people with 50+ vpip and never raise the limp pf isn't neccesarily wrong.

Your PF limp is fine. Folding to the raise would be absolutely horrible.

After the flop, in a loose game like this - no set, no bet isn't such a bad strategy with small pairs like this (let's say PP < 88). Betting/raising probably isn't going to fold any of these loose players out of the pot. You're hand doesn't have a lot of showdown value UI against 4-5 players.

PF is fine. Check/Fold the flop.
