Worse tournament play of the century! See it to believe it!
This is a WSOP satellite, I was in 5th place out of an initial field of 250 players. Feeling very confident about my chances of winning since 1st place had only about 40% more chips than I did. Then this pot came along and, well, see it to believe it

Jopke. If not, you should be hung, shot, electrocuted, injected with poison, drawn and quartered and then filleted.
Hand in your 2+2 badge on your way out the door. (tho i have a sneaky suspicion that you were actually the SB on this hand...). |

Re: Worse tournament play of the century! See it to believe it!
No joke, I was in serious tilt. I played the whole tournament well and this hand I played insanely.
I started imagining things, like on the river i thought he had a King, and would certainly fold thinking he was baeat, and I thought to myself that I was 100% acurate on my read and that I would do the most bold bluff ever and that I would then show him I had nothing and laugh. I was doing all this imagination in my head and the outcome was the stupidest move ever So, did I win the "worse tournament play of the century" trophy? hehahahaahha |

It would have been much worse if you had called an all-in bet with 64.

It's fine until you don't fold the river.

Re: Worse tournament play of the century! See it to believe it!
You are right – it is terrible play on the river. Your attempt to steal the pot was fine your bet after the flop was nice as well. However when he keeps calling you should ask your self what his hand has and since you are beaten on the river no matter what you should fold.
If it can bring you any comfort I believe that most players here have done something similar. As long you learn from your mistake you have gained something form this tournament – though access to WSOP 2005 would be SO much better. -sunek |

Re: Worse tournament play of the century! See it to believe it!
I made the final table at two consecutive Party tournaments a week or so ago -- played beautifully both times, but then somehow totally lost my patience/concentration when the final table formed. I think part of it was fatigue (at about 5 hours, I'm totally ready to be done with poker), but part was my misunderstanding as a newbie of how profitable it is to be patient and slide up the pay scale.
At the first one, I entered final table as 2nd stack, with a lovely lead on most of the field ... and managed to bust out 9th. Ouch. |
