Default dfscott, tournament review #2

Here are selected hands from the second tournament I reviewed for dfscott.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (6 handed) converter

MP (t1777)
CO (t620)
Button (t730)
SB (t1788)
dfscott (t1070)
UTG (t2015)

Preflop: dfscott is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
4 folds, SB completes, dfscott checks.

Flop: (t400) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, dfscott bets t870 (All-In), SB folds.

Final Pot: t1270

Comment: This hand is strong enough where I would be more concerned with getting some value than protecting my hand. I would probably bet around 200 here.

Final Pot: t2390

Comment: I would fold here. Small pairs are either a little ahead or way behind. I like to see at least 1.5:1 to play here. That is enough to make up for the times opponent has a higher pair.

BB (t2104)

Turn: (t1326) T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t1326) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t1326

Comment: This hand I would move all-in over the top. This hand has several things going for it over the previous hand. First, assuming you get heads up (which I think is a pretty good assumption), you are getting over 1.75:1. Second, because your opponent is in a desperation situation his range of hands is much wider, so you are less likely to be dominated by an overpair.

Final Pot: t380

Comment: I would probably raise here to get heads-up with the all-in player. You have an above average hand, and you'll be getting 1.78:1 on your money. In general, waiting around for the short stack to bust is not a good idea.

IIRC these are 50+5 tourneys? It's a little over my head but I'll have a stab.

I agree with your comments on all hands except #1: What would SB call 200 for that would not go all in for? I guess a diamond flush, but they'd be getting odds to call here, so I'd rather go all-in. I think with a flop like that it's hard to extract much value without risking a slowplay (check, if an ace or king comes he might bet out). I'd like the all-in.

FWIW, these are 11s (or maybe 22s, I can't remember which).

Hands 1-2 I agree. No other comments really.

Hands 3-4 I'm less sure of.

I'm on the fence about hand 3. I guess I don't know if the risk that someone has a big hand behind you, and possibly going out 4th, is worth the 1.75:1 odds you're gonna get on a coin flip in a small pot. But I'm undecided.

Hand 4 I disagree with you. I think folding is right. If you raise, you have to go all-in which is again a tough risk-reward scenario.

If you min-raise, a good player would come over the top and probably force you to fold. Q9o is only slightly better than the average hand.

Similar reasoning to hand 3, except the short stack is even shorter in this case. I'd fold.
