craps, dice setting, advantage rolling
I just got my February Cigar Afficianado. The article in the gambling column is about CRAPS. The premise is that here is a learnable skill called 'advantage rolling' which is basically a special dice-setting and rolling technique which results in fewer than expected sevens.
It is a way of lowering, or even reversing the house edge. While the gained edge is small in terms of absolute % edge, when combined with propperbet/bankroll management, it is reportedly powerful and . Additionally, there are at least a couple "schools" that teach this, but it takes a ton of practice. All that being said: ??? does anyone have any such experience with something like this??? aces, doc (or should I have said sixes and eights!!!0 |

Re: craps, dice setting, advantage rolling
Have run into guys who claim to do this, but haven't really seen it in action. I know of one guy who had a regulation crap table built and had it in his basement to practice. I'm sure it is physically possible, but I can't imagine any half way decent pit-boss (or even a marginally competent stick man) letting you get away with it for a long time. You'd have to find a real soft game and not abuse the ability.

Re: craps, dice setting, advantage rolling
The world is full of dice professionals who claim to be able to perform controlled rolls. Those that aren't selling their training systems on the net are commonly known by their other primary profession:

Re: craps, dice setting, advantage rolling
Once those dice hit back wall it's all over...RANDOM ROLL.
You would have to find a pit where they didn't regularly enforce this rule. |

Re: craps, dice setting, advantage rolling
so i am guessing it involves trying for one or no dice to hit the back wall with the pyramids?
i looked at the websites for two such schools, but cant seem to find even a clue about what is involved. |

Re: craps, dice setting, advantage rolling
Advantage rolling is an interesting concept.
It is the same category as a perpetual motion machine or turning lead into gold. It sounds great but show me the real thing before I'll believe it. |

Re: craps, dice setting, advantage rolling
As I understand it, some people do try to get away with not hitting the back wall. Some advocates of advantage rolling claim that if you set the dice properly and hit the back wall as softly as possible you can reduce the probability of a seven enough to gain an advantage. Personally, I'd want that craps table in my basement, to practice, and get a large enough sample size to prove that I was really changing the distribution enough to gain an advantage, before I would try it in a casino. I actually think the claims of advantage rolling, even if true, will help the casinos. A lot of people will try it, but very few will actually have an advantage. This, IMO is much harder to do successfully than counting cards at blackjack, and card counting has actually made blackjack much more profitable for tha casinos, because most of the people who try it don't do it right, and many more people who don't even know correct basic strategy are convinced that they can beat the game.

He is also pretty nifty with dice. On volume four of his Gambling Protection Video Series he demonstrates some controlled dice throws. The dice do hit the back wall. |

Re: craps, dice setting, advantage rolling
I just bet "don't pass" and slam those dice into the back wall...thereby increasing my chances of a 7
