Default Party 10/20 - First session at this level, FLAME AWAY

I had been at the table for about 30 hands. UTG had played almost half the hands and was pretty fishy. BB had not gotten out of line, but not much of a read. I welcome all comments about all streets. I think I should have raised PF to get the SB out and isolate UTG with a presumably weaker hand.

Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (9 max, 7 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
UTG calls, 4 folds, Hero completes, BB raises, UTG calls, Hero calls.

Flop: (6 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero checks, BB bets, UTG calls, Hero raises, BB calls, UTG calls.

Turn: (6 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
Hero bets, BB folds, UTG calls.

River: (8 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls.

Final Pot: 10 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has Jh Ad (one pair, queens).
UTG has 3h Ah (one pair, queens).
Outcome: Hero wins 10 BB.

Meh. Can correct based on your read but i'm really not a fan of checkraising the field with a draw to 1 overcard.

Against any descent player you would have been way behind, but thats the beauty of Party.

I'm not sure which I hate worse--the flop checkraise or the river bet.

Okay. It won't be long until you've played your last hand at this limit pulling this kind of junk.

For me it is the river bet. What hands are you trying to fold here? Missed flush draws? Give those a chance to bluff at you, because no one with a pair is folding at this point, but the missed flush draw might want to try a bluff.

Really? For me it's the river bet, and it's not close.

I'm sure you'll be at worst a break even player, and I mean that sincerely.

I dont like to flame, so here is some constructive criticism.

The thought about raising preflop to isolate is good. You likely have a much better hand than he does, and if he plays nontricky and poorly after the flop(there is a decent chance he does), you will be the one extracting bets, and will not get pushed off ace high when it is good.

Since you didnt raise preflop, and the BB did, that shows a lot of strength. I wouldnt try to blow them both off the hand with a flop checkraise--in fact, I would check fold the flop in this instance(rarely you will be folding the best hand, and sometimes you would even have outs). If the guy plays every hand, he is calling with any pair, so there is no need to bet the river as you wont get a better hand to fold.

You should evaluate your game from start to finish and make sure that all of your plays make sense with respect to the hand you have, and your opponents possible range of hands. In this instance it worked, but I wouldnt try to bluff multiple people off hands too frequently.

1) post in small stakes
2) raise preflop
3) don't post results so we can flame at you for 20 posts, then you can gloat about winning
4) stop gloating
