O-line and I would even go so far as to say that if you had the #1 O-line in the league and all other players were equal in talent to the 25th best team in the league you would make the playoffs that year.

ironic. im sure we can mostly agree that oline is the most imporant. yet how many offensive lineman would be taken in the first round if the league was redrafted from scratch? and where would the highest one be picked? (is Pace the best?)

The difference here is that there would be a run on QBs, to the point where if you didn't take one early you'd be stuck with crap. Think of the RB run in Fantasy Football.

well, you're filling out 5 positions vs 1 position. The relative difference between manning and plummer versus say Pace and Chad Clifton...

What's the deal with the four people who picked RB? Too much fantasy football?

Quarterback. Look at the way Brett Favre has continually carried very mediocre/bad Packers teams as an example.

Except this year, because they lost both Marco Rivera and Mike Wahle, both key in their running success these past couple of years. Offensive line is the only correct answer here. Behind a great offensive line, mediocre RBs and QBs can succeed, but no QB or RB can succeed behind a bad offensive line.

A good QB is critical to long term success and it's the most important position. It's not far to compare QB and O-Line in the way that you guys are doing, because it takes 5 players to make a good offensive line.

Other than that, it's hard to say because how you build your team depends on the value you find in the draft... QB may be most important, but I'm not passing on Jim Brown for John Brodie.

Btw, if you're interested in figuring it out for yourself, then try out Front Office Football 2004.

But if you are lucky enough to get a high pick you should be able to trade manning/vick/brady for three or four picks down the line.
