Default Parmesan Cheese

I bought some parmesan cheese yesterday. The guy behind the counter asked how much I wanted, so I said about a half a pound. It came out to $9.67 for about .60 lb. Thought that was kind of expensive, but it was really good.....

Ever buy any really expensive cheese?

I kind of have an addiction for good cheese. it's an expensive habit.

at the cheese stores near me (Cambridge, MA), a really nice Parmagiano Reggiano is about $20/lb.

Ancient Gouda (my favorite) is about $14/lb, and really nice blue's (like Great Hill) cost around $20/lb.

cheese is expensive, but can be a great/unique treat to bring to dinner parties.

I buy all my cheeses (such as goat cheese, mozzarela, Roquefort, Emmental) at a little french store, it is very expensive but so good. It's worth it for me.

The price you paid is fine.

I eat more cheese than meat. Funny, that one has to pay that much for rotten milk...

Good Cheese is pretty much the only food I will pay $20/lb for and be happy about it.

It's funny you bring this up because I've been pondering cheese lately. Specifically, it pisses me off to see grocery stores carry all these different cheeses that basically are the same generic crap. And when they ask you whether you want provologne or swiss at the deli, what a freakin' joke. Punch some holes in American cheese and there you have it, Swiss! Bastards.

I didnt mean it was too expensive, just expensive in relative terms to what you would usually pay for 1/2 lb of cheese.
