Default 99 without my compass

This was one of those hands where I didn't know where I was at all, so I decided when all else fails, bet.

Exactly how bad was this?

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
1 fold, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls, 1 fold, Hero raises, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls.

Flop: (14 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (7 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, CO calls, Button calls, SB folds, BB folds, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls.

Turn: (9.50 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (5 players)
UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, CO calls, Button calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 folds.

River: (13.50 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
UTG+1 checks, Hero bets, CO raises, Button 3-bets, UTG+1 folds, Hero folds, CO calls.

Final Pot: 20.50 BB
Main Pot: 20.50 BB, between CO and Button.

Doesn't look all that bad to me. The river looks good except for anyone with a J or A and with it being 2 back to you I would fold as well

At first this looked completely retarded to me.

But when I think about it, with whole Bayes thing would tell you that the chance of someone having an ace are slim with three on the board, so all you have to worry about is a Jack or higher pocket pair. The three bet on the river, however, is scary given what you hold.

Oddly, you're not the first person to make this exact comment after I've posted one of my hands. I wonder what that means.

This is exactly how I would play it. It looks like maybe some guy decided that maybe you didnt have the fifth ace on the river.

Hey cash, unless these guys are complete idiots (certainly possible of course), you are in deep trouble when 4 people call your flop bet with no draws on the board.

I rarely raise 99 pre-flop, but I'm beginning to feel like it's a sign of bad character. I like the way you played it.

Looks pretty good to me cold_cash. Raise...bet...bet...bet...fold. Pretty routine.

Seriously though, I play this one the same.
