Assheads who berate the fish
So I really hate these people's guts. Anyway, I finally think I got a zinger that may shut these people up. You have to wait until the fish leaves....
This is the best I've come up with. YOU: So tell me, "hammerhead", do you have a job? HAMMERHEAD: (usually) Yeah, why? YOU: I was wondering if you ever call your boss a moron for paying you. The way "fish" paid you for the last half hour. |

Re: Assheads who berate the fish
If everything is going good, that is, making my usual 9-10 BB/100 (at 15/30), then yes I do.
If I get in a real slump, and my win rate drops down to like 7 BB/100 for a day or two, then I try to regain my focus and ignore the chat window until I right the ship. I'll ignore the chat window for good if I ever have a losing session. Thanks for the tip. Sound about right? |

Re: Assheads who berate the fish
I wouldn't know. I can't beat 15-30. I'm still working on my .10-.20 skills.

turning off or ignoring chat is one of the most costly mistakes made by serious players. it is very common to find good players with the chat turned off, and this may be the difference between making an extra few bets a day. this may also be the difference in them remaining good players but never becomming a great player. with the absence of physical tells online, pokersites have handed us a gourmet treat with that chat window. i've never understood people turning off chat. pretending to ignore chat or pretending your chat is off is fine, actually ignoring it or turning it off is a big mistake. jmho |

Beyond picking up tells, keeping chat on helps create a better playing environment. One of your responsibilities as a pro player is to help entertain the fish. If someone asks you a question about where you are from, and you ignore them, it's rude, and it doesn't help keep your fish happy. Chatting back is your way of helping keep the table loose and happy. And if someone is berating the fish, you need to put a stop to it. And as far as the original posters line of attack, I disagree with it. When someone is berating one of my fish, I just start in on them with some sarcasm. "Hammerhead, If you are so great, how come you can't beat his 72o?" Hammerhead: He's a moron for playing it. Me: "Well, you lost, so you're the one looking stupid". or me: "Hammerhead, ever have your chat privileges revoked or your account frozen?" hammerhead: "no, and I wasn't using profanity" me: "Either can happen to you if you continue to be abusive, so I recommend you shutup and focus your energies on learning how to play better" |

Re: Assheads who berate the fish
I got it when Michael Madsen (as Vic Vega) referred to his probation officer as such in the movie Reservoir Dogs .
I believe that movie is from 1992. |
