Default What to do during a bad streak?

There are days when the money just keeps coming in. 6BB+/hour.
That's most days. And then there are the days when everyone seems to hit their gutshots against you and premium hands dont seem so premium anymore. +ev becomes -ev in the short run. and you begin to wonder if you should be raising hands pf for value when it just seems like you're losing more. During times like these, I find it difficult to stay away from the game in hopes for things to become better. but then i remind myself that its all part of the game. I guess i can't seem to get away from the idea that maybe i should give it a rest and come back a few days later. What do you guys do in moments like these? I'm curious to know how you guys would handle it.

Not really, if a play is +EV then it pretty much stays that way regardless of whether they draw out or you miss your 5th flush draw in a row or whatever.

I dunno, just hang in there and evaluate your play. If you're playing like ass then take a break. That's how you turn plays you would normally make (that are +EV) into plays you should make (that are -EV).

Alot of threads on this floating around. If you think you can keep up 6+ BB an hour in the long term, you've got another thing coming. If your emotions are making you make bad desicions, then stop playing, its just going to cause you to bleed BB. A thick skin in needed for low limit. I usually gear down to 1 table when it seems all 4 of my tables are against me, normally the one I am running best on. Focus on making solid, high +EV decisions, regardless of your results.

drop down 1 level, and play with what feels like play money, until you regain your emotional composure.

I have learned to take a few days or even a week off and just forget about poker or at least try. I come back refreshed and with a better frame of mind and the winning starts again.
You have probably lost your confidence and are not playing your A game. Take a break, get laid, get drunk, go bowling just take a break.

If this is your first downswing, don't worry--it will turn around.

If this is not your first downswing, remember your last downswing. It ended.

Losses are temporary. Solid play is forever.
