Default How should I play this?

Sorry for the bad title, I was trying to get creative but after a night of drinking I feel like crap and my brain isn't working. Down to 32 in this $3 Pokerstars event. Actually made the final table in this event last night but this time I'm struggling. I'm 30th out of 32 with blinds at 2,000-4000. Sitting on about 35,000 in chips. Villain is a tight player that hasn't been at the table for too long. I get dealt QJ offsuit. Everyone folds to the SB who limps. Hero?

Takes a flop?

Jamming with QJ is the same as jamming with 97o, since if called youre against Ax or K-medium or something. In either case your cards don't really matter. You can make a strong hand on this flop and then get some chips out of him. Also, in position on the flop you can take the pot off him if the action is right.

Is there an ante?

Without an ante, I *may* take a flop, but more likely just push, even 2BB's is good and he hasn't shown strength.

With antes auto-push.

I like a flop here, probably are not dominated, if a Q or J high hits you can let him lead in to you and punish him for it. I'm not pushing here hardly ever.

So there is 6800 in the pot, you have ~32K behind and lots of FE so a good chance of increasing your stack by 20% without a showdown.

I push.

.

QJ has like 5 or 6% more equity vs a calling range there.. definitely not the same.

I pushed, the guy requested time and finally called. He had A8 offsuit. The flop came down Q 7 2 and I was ahead. The turn card was an ace and I was eliminated in 32nd place.

Now not being results oriented but is the push really right? He can't call my push on the flop since he's a tight player and he only has ace high.

It's good that I put him to the test and almost won the hand.
