Winning my Manhood back in 60 days -- Intro
I had posted a problem I was having here:
Poker and the better half and decided to start a journal on how I am going to "win" back my manhood by showing my wife that I am not a degenerate gambler and am in fact a winning poker player. The setup: I have $250 to start (I negotiated that up from the original $200 over the weekend). My bankroll will grow at a rate of $250 + 30% of winnings each month. I am unable to reload, so any losings gone for good. I can play a maximum 10 hours a week. I plan on playing the $25NL tables at party, as I have found those incredibly easy to multi-table and come out ahead. If anyone has good reasons to play anything else, I would be glad to hear them. My goal is at the end of 60 days be able to manage my bankroll as I see fit and get rid of the 70-30 split and start making some real money. I don't have any desire to play more often, so the 10 hour limit is no big deal to me. I will be giving a report every couple of days detailing me winnings/losings, my wife's overall opinion on my playing (I am ranking this from 1 to 100, with a beginning value of 10), my self-esteem (also from 1-100, but starting at 50), and various interesting hands that I play. Pre-quest B/R - $250 Current Limit - PP $25 NL WO(wife's opinion) - 10 MSE(my self-esteem) - 50 Let the games begin! |

Isn't $250 a little low for a $25NL bankroll? I would think you'd have a smaller risk of ruin by starting out at .50-1 Limit.

You have (what should be) an unnacceptably high risk of going broke. You'd need at least 20 buy-ins. If it were my last deposit, I'd want more like 30 or 40.

I agree, .5/1 is less risky till you have built up some. I think your real problem is your wife treats you like a child rather than a husband though. Sorry to be blunt, but there it is.

Why isn't your bankroll increasing at 100% of your winnings? Kind of confused about that point.
Good luck retrieving your testicles, of course. |

Re: Winning my Manhood back in 60 days -- Intro
250 is a little low but not terribly low for 25NL. lose 3 buyins and I think you should move to .50/1. you should realize that your risk of ruin is not trivial in either of these situations.

Yes, that is a problem, and no need to be sorry. My wife is very risk adverse, so the goal here is not so much to win a gazillion dollars (that will be later), but to slowly introduce her to the whole concept of poker.
In her defense, this is the only aspect of our lives in which I get treated like a child, so it could be worse. I could be Doug Christie. |

Thanks for the advice. I believe that is exactly what I will do.

This is my four step plan to manhood:
1 Dump the wife 2 Get a girlfriend 3 Play poker whenever you feel like it 4 If she complains, get a new girlfriend |
