if you think you have any fold equity I guess hand 1 is alright....personally i'd take the free card.

the other hands seem ok. I like the large raises since there are flush draws possible.

I think you should stop playing your suited connectors in early position.

hand 1 raise it up pf or fold

your c/r isnt great, either. given you limp/called on this type of board i prefer c/c with DBB. one problem though is J could make you run into nuts...

turn, you got two people to call your c/r, it's tough envisioning them both folding, but it's better to push this money in then call it, so i guess if you think the guy behind you will bet just bet yourself. but i think your folding equity is bad.

this hand strikes me as a big misapplication of when aggression is good, and when some selective tightness and caution is better.

if they folded, congrats, or if you sucked out, congrats.

hand 2 same deal. honestly, open limping these hands at a full table is not profitable. may be -EV.

lol, interesting thing here is a flop raise may be good, you could knock a ton of hands, take a freebie, bluff spades, etc. calling works too.

turn play is overaggro imo, just fold. you dont have odds to draw and he's betting twice now. if he is weak tight and would drop an OP, good, but against most people (making people fold overpairs = generall not sound) you really have to hope he: a. raises AK/AQ+wider range that missed the flop from the blinds and b. fires twice on this coordinated a board w/ ace high or the like.

hand 3 i would open raise, open limping = sucks. esp from CO.

given you flopped 2nd nuts facing an overbet, i like repotting it. tons of bad cards could fall, would be nice to shoot it out on this flop with probably 65% equity. (make it 82 total)

To me these all these hands have to be openraised if played. I did some experimenting myself with openlimping suited connectors early... didn't work out too well. I probably open with the 89 almost always, the 86, maybe 50% of the time, the 53 almost always unless BB is a calling station. Postflop play seems ok in all hands.. at first I thought take the free card in hand 1 but MP is left to act. i like this play more now, but I still wouldn't mind trying for the free card. I think MP rarely has more than one pair, and is unlikely to bet it. BB is a bit worrisome IMO, but you should have folding equity still. Hope BB is not slowplaying a set or QT.

I'm not by any means an expert, however my personal opinion is that taking the super system books literally will make you go broke. I know wh en i first followed his advice i did poorly, and when a friend of mine first read his book he became super easy money. The only guy i know personally to read his book and become a better player is a guy who is 1) VERY good at playing aggressively before reading his book, and 2) a complete luck box. He makes most of his money by getting lucky :P.

I think his book is great at flop aggression when your a coinflip/near coinflip to improve because the added fold equity is + EV.

Just my crappy opinion,

galahad

Super System was meant for deep stacked high stakes hold'em, not small stakes. You will get called and stacked alot by mid/top pairs at these levels.

Quit limping in with 8 6 suited under the gun immediately.

I think you've got balls about triple the size of mine.

Hand 1...you made your pot sized stab it after the flop and you still got two smooth callers. You now push into the pf bettor and the BB smooth caller. Someone hit a set, imho and I doubt you'd get them to lay it down.

Hand 2...pf you call a 3x plus 1 for each caller raise with a 1 gap SC when you're going to be heads up (albeit in position). You're getting awful odds here. The flop comes about as good as can be hoped and you're still looking at 8 outs, maybe 6 if the spades are counterfeited and you're smooth calling 2 to 1 odds on his pot sized continuation bet. Can you say chasing? Nice raise on the turn but I think it was played awful up to this point. This has got to be a huge -EV play.

If you're going to continue to try and play SCs in early position I think you should start tracking how much you're putting into the pot vs how much you're winning with them. I think you'll find in the long run, especially playing the 86 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or 35 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] you're going to be WAY behind when all is said and done.

With that said, there's nothing wrong with raising with SCs in EP to mix your play up but I wouldn't continue playing the 1 gappers (or whatever the technical term is) in EP. EV can't be positive on them.
