Raising from the blinds with limpers ...
One mistake I used to make in ring games was taking a hand like A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and raise in the blinds after 3 or 4 people had limped. This was obviously a misapplication of SSH theory. However, in shorthanded games when I have decent stats on people, I'm starting to go back to this strategy. Two examples:
Hand 1: [UTG is a 50/10 after a few orbits. BB is a 47/5 after 35 hands] Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) Preflop: Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 2 folds, Hero raises, BB 3-bets, UTG calls, Hero calls. Flop: (9 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) Hero checks, BB bets, UTG raises, Hero folds Hand 2: [UTG is a 70/2 after 50 hands, CO is a 46/6 after 250 hands, SB is a 30/20 after 30 hands] Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 1 fold, CO calls, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero raises, UTG calls, CO calls, SB calls. Flop: (8 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, Hero bets, UTG calls, CO calls, SB calls. Turn: (6 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players) SB checks, Hero bets, UTG folds, CO calls, SB folds. River: (8 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero bets Painfully standard or am I pushing too hard? |
