\"No Limit Holdem\" and \"Championship Satellite Strategy\"
I think these are good books by McEvoy and Daugherty. "No Limit Holdem" is particular is somewhat elementary. I think these have not been recognized fully due to the bad reputation of the Cloutier and McEvoy books.

For someone just beginning, this book is not bad. It gives the reader a good feel for basic situations one encounters in a NL tournament.
McEvoy/Daugherty books > McEvoy/Cloutier books
