I meant since they are all blinds games, why not have blinds.

If there actually is an ante (sounds like that's not certain) then you should probably see a lot more flops. If there's no check-raising, position would seem to be way more important -- your information from late position is (presumably) more accurate that way (a check really is a check), and you can't pull any fancy moves from early position.

That's a good point. I guess the old regulars there will be even easier to read if there's no check-raise.

Has anyone out there actually played Holdem H/L before? Wondering if there's a standard rule regarding if you have to play both hold cards, or one, etc.

Man oh man. That games sounds a lot like many games I played in Washington State. Is it in Washington State?

All the Hold Em Split8 games I have ever played (in WA) have the same hand construction rules as regular Hold Em. Any 5 cards out of 7 to make your best hand. 0, 1, or 2 from your hand. Respectively, play 5, 4, or 3 from the board. For each direction (high and/or low).

Often, no 8 low is possible. Best high or highs (if tied) take the pot.

Yes, Olympia area. Thanks for the info, I'll go with that assumption when I play. I bet most people pick Omaha anyway.
