leak finding - value betting on river OR free SD?

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25.
Hero raises to $2, 8 folds, BB (Villain)/ calls $1.50.

Flop: ($4.25) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Villain bets $0.75, Hero raises to $4, Villain calls $3.25.

Turn: ($12.25) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)
Villain bets $0.75, Hero raises to $12, Villain calls $11.25.

River: ($36.25) 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Villain checks, Hero ???

this situation has come up a few times recently... I'm pretty sure MHIG up until the river. If a brick comes on the river I'm betting for value. If the river improves my hand I'm betting for value. If the river completes a draw should I still bet the river - or do I check and tke a free showdown?

I've been mostly checking these thinking that if I have Villain beat they will fold if I bet in any case - and the few times they do call they have me beat..

Is this right or should I take a different line?

Worst possible river card. Flush draw and 4-straight. If villain has the straight he is terrified of your flush.

Without a read on villain's play I check this down. In this situation villain will most likely only fold a worse hand and will call with a hand that beats you. The only question is will villain call a push? If yes, check it down, if no then bet and take it down.
