yes, well the search function, however useful, is apparently not stopping us from seeing the same type of posts again and again.

It's just a thought.

it comes in waves. in another 4+ months all those 'types' of posts will show up again.

btw...

which is worse, the same old questions or the 'stat' questions? seems like a tossup to me.

although, rharless had a great presentation with stats that was actually interesting and can be used. but then again, she wasnt asking about her flop % after 147 hands.

I think that's a great idea! I don't know what the best way to implement it would be, but the current forum FAQ is inadequate since it doesn't answer any poker FAQs. Search is underused but that's understandable 'cause it's kind of painful....

I've noticed some of the regular and more authoritative posters sometimes deal with this by posting something along the lines of "Ok, for all you guys who think...." But of course these threads themselves are only effective short-term. So one suggestion: how about a list of "best of" threads. Like "Best of MajorKong," "Best of Homer J. Simpson," "Best of Mason Malmuth," etc?

Very good idea. Unfortunately there's already a FAQ for this board. It's called HFAP, and this site exists to sell it. I think a comprehensive strategy FAQ might be a conflict of interest for the site.

But it's a good idea to try to keep the quality of posts up.

However, if you decide to put it on a web site, I'll put a link to it in my Sig.

This might add a few answers regarding internet poker.

As far as competing with HEFAP or other 2+2 books, the idea is definitely not to provide hand rankings or in depth-strategic advice. I'd say the only competition would be Poker for Dummies.

Here are the posts I have bookmarked.

Clarkmeister on 5 things LL players should unlearn.

Thread by BruceZ and Mason (and others) on Bankroll requirements.

Homer J. Simpson on how to beat low limit games.

ArtVandelay on General Advice on Big Bet Holdem.

I don't think a FAQ would be competition for the 2+2 books except in the sense that these forums are competition. If anything, a quick explanation of some poker concepts will just whet the appetite for a more thorough treatment. I know that personally the free advice handed out in this forum has caused me to buy more 2+2 books than I otherwise would have.

Nice, flounder. For my 2 cents, I think a list of links to the really good posts would be more effective (and a lot easier to do) than a traditional FAQ.

In addition to the ones flounder listed, definitely MK's "why you guys arent crushing..." thread. I've made more money off that thread than all the others combined. I owe MK a steak dinner!
