QQ and AKo -- two hands from a minus 75 BB session
Okay, mostly I'm just double-checking here (I think).
I was fairly new at the table for both of these. In this first hand, the note I had on UTG at the time was that he was a 32s player: Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is MP3 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 2 folds, MP2 calls, Hero raises, 3 folds, BB calls, UTG calls, MP2 folds. Flop: (7.33 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) BB checks, UTG bets, Hero raises, BB calls, UTG 3-bets, Hero caps, BB folds, UTG calls. Turn: (8.66 BB) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG raises, Hero calls. River: (12.66 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) UTG checks, Hero checks. Final Pot: 12.66 BB In this second hand, my note on MP1 was that he liked to slowplay flopped boats. The word "slowplay" seems to be a theme in my notes on people lately, actually. (Tonight I encountered someone who limped aces, check-called the flop, check-called the turn, and then went nuts on the river. He did get paid off pretty well on the river, which got capped, I have to admit.) Anyway, though, that wasn't MP1. All he did to get his note was raise AJs preflop in a previous hand and then quickly slow down once he actually flopped a boat. Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is Button with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, MP1 raises, 3 folds, Hero 3-bets, 2 folds, UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, MP1 calls. Flop: (11.33 SB) A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) UTG+1 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 calls, MP1 raises, Hero calls, UTG+1 folds. Turn: (8.16 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) MP1 bets, Hero raises, MP1 calls. River: (12.16 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) MP1 checks, Hero bets, MP1 calls. Final Pot: 14.16 BB Do you see any big problems? I'm questioning myself, after tonight's session. |

Maybe I'm a LAG, but what about betting the river in hand 1? Afraid of another c/r?

I'd bet the river on hand one...maybe fold to a c/r, depends on my read.

I like em both. don't sweatr it my man. I'm just coming out of a one week 130 Bb downswing. If you play your hands like this, you'll be perfectly fine. nhs

[/ QUOTE ] I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about slow plays against loose passive opponents. If you do this you will become too passive. Sure, you'll pay them off a lot of the time, but they won't be slowplaying monsters enough to make up for all the bets they lose calling down with garbage. The only time I really ever worry about this in a small stakes game is against a notoriously aggressive player who all of a suddent starts calling. |

Re: QQ and AKo -- two hands from a minus 75 BB session
Hand 1, I find his river check strange, but given the fact that he went 4 on the flop and raised the turn I think I like the check-behind. I'd probably value bet here, but that might be a stubborn, silly play.
Hand 2 looks good. I might make it 3 on the flop to try and get rid of UTG though. |
