Default Mount & Blade (PC game)

This has been around for a bit, but I can't remember if it was ever mentioned here. It is fun as hell, and FREE for the first 6 levels (the full version is $12 I think).

It is basically a medieval combat game with some RPG elements involved. It is actually a beta product right now. FWIW, I have only spoken to 1 person who played it and didn't buy the full version- it is just too much fun at a great price. Plus I like encourage indy dev houses to keep making good games.

If you are interested, you can download the client (and read more about it) here.

If this is old news, I am sure I will get a big pile of burning [censored] as a response, but I think my ego can handle it I figure it is worth it in case there are some folks who haven't heard about it yet.

Has anyone else played it?

It looks about three years behind the ball as far as graphics go, but this can be overcome if the game play is solid. Cool.

The graphics don't look that good in screenshots, but they work quite well for the gameplay. If any MMRPG ever co-opted Mount and Blade's combat engine, it would make WoW look like Daikatana.
