Re: Trop now charging $10 for parking
[ QUOTE ]
Last time I checked, just a few months ago. Casino control didn't allow casino's to charge more than $5 for parking. They also stipulate that casino's can't charge someone for parking who already paid it at another casino that day. Wonder how they're getting around the $5 rule... has the law been changed? [/ QUOTE ] i doubt this is a ccc rule, as there was a casino (i believe it was the trop, duh?) that was charging $25 to park between like 7am and 10am or something to stop the construction workers from parking there while they were building the new trop stuff. there was a big ruckus about it, but never any mention of ccc rules. |

Re: Trop now charging $10 for parking
I just got back from the Trop a couple of hours ago. It's $10 for parking, but if you're a Diamond Club member or have a hotel receipt, it's only 4 dollars.
BTW, a little off topic: I went to the Poker Room there on Saturday around 7:00 PM, and I was seated almost immediately. Are the games usually like that at the Trop? I'm used to waiting a few hours at the Borgata; I was pretty shocked. Might have to go there more often. |

What's the "Diamond Club"? I have a poker card, is there some other card I have to get?

Re: Trop now charging $10 for parking
Yep, thats about average for the Trop. Seating is rather quick, no more than 20 mins and thats when they are slammed.

Re: Trop now charging $10 for parking
I'm kinda wondering whether the Trop will eventually get some bigger poker games. With the poker boom and the fact that they have a lot more foot traffic now, you'd think they could get a 20-40/30-60 type game going if they pushed it hard. I like the Trop, but don't go because they don't have middle limit games.

Re: Trop now charging $10 for parking
So, yesterday when I went from the Taj to the Sands, I shouldn't have had to pay for parking at the Sands? Just show them the receipt from the Taj and I'm in?
Good to know. Edited because i before e, except after c. |

I don't see anything in the casino control act that caps the fees for parking. [/ QUOTE ] huh, well I guess my memory is faulty. |

I'm used to waiting a few hours at the Borgata; I was pretty shocked. Might have to go there more often. [/ QUOTE ] Yep. That's what we'll do, at least until the Borg completes its expansion. My husband and I were pretty diehard 6-12 Borg fans, but just got fed up with the grueling waits and the inability to take the time to actually enjoy the great restaurants there. I mean, we wanted to enjoy the whole Borgata experience, but we couldn't do that when we had to worry about wait lists, dinner lists, and all that stuff in the poker room. Finally, one weekend, we thought we'd give the Trop (where he'd previously played for years, pre-Borg [and pre-me!!]) a try. We were completely shocked -- and in a positive way! At the Trop, we were able to get into games almost immediately and we could enjoy great restaurants in the Quarter without having to worry about getting back into games afterward. We could sleep late in the AM. And finally, the floor people actually were friendly and didn't act put-out when you talked to them. Wow! Sure, there are some drawbacks to the Trop. The rooms aren't as nice. The liquor isn't as good. (Please, let's not hear anything, yet again, about the waitresses....) And the Trop doesn't offer those desirable middle limit games (at least not at this point). (Oh, and one other thing the Trop has going for it: It's not nearly as scuzzy and degenerate-filled as the Taj.) So, all in all, the Trop's a great place to hang out and actually play some cards instead of wait around and stare at loooooong lists of initials on flat screens. |
