The guy who invented poker was bright, but the guy who invented the chip was a genius.

But then where does the guy who invented money rank?

You know, this thread, aside from being very amusing, presents a good question - what is so alluring about playing live if we generally can make more money playing online?

[/ QUOTE ]
Nothing.

Edit: OK, chips are fun to play with.

Playing online is like doing homework in your room.

Playing live is like banging chicks in the grad library stacks.

yeah, onegymrat and i were talking about this while playing at commerce (TT and Private Joker were also playing)...we basically came to the conclusion that the reason we prefer live play is that people are just really interesting. not that each individual is that interesting and sfer is right that i don't really want to know or care about the people i play against, its just that each person is so different and they all have different goals and styles and attitudes, its something you can't get online...

and you can chit chat with other 2+2ers...

I went to a nearby (1 hr away) casino to play 4/8 just because there were a lot of chips to play with, only to find they also use $2 chips. I was pissed.

Poker is a game of people played with cards. (Not my quote )

The live experience with actual "people" is never going to lose out to online play. Online poker is more like a video game where you know the other folks are real but you are still detatched from the personal experience. Chatting helps but can only go so far.

Now someday in the future, when we have fully holographic computer systems and virtual reality etc etc. Then who knows?

Of all these posts not one person thought of the real reason we all like live games the best. What about the look on the face of the cockiest (and worst) player on the table when you snap off his AA with 6 5 suited cause he thought he was a pro and would slow play them in a 6/12 game....................priceless...

So true.

Then again, a lot of people like going out and being out in public. Makes you feel more like a human and less like poker-playing machines, which we all are, of course.

Slightly below the guy who invented masturbation

Semi-serious answer: Humans are social creatures.
