How much worse can I play this???

UTG+1 has been pretty aggressive, decent postflop. In other words, no great read.

I would have tried to avoid the preflop misclick.

Seriously why are you playing the hand? You hit your ace and didn't feel confident, that seems good enough reason to fold it.

yeah folding preflop is the play. that's where the trouble starts. on the river i think you can 3 bet. it'd make sense for him to value raise KK and QQ here and i think that's what his raise here looks like.

Mike,

I can't agree with you here. We're looking at 12 combos of KK/QQ versus 12 combos of AK-AJ, even with three of the aces accounted for. Plus a player holding trips is almost always going to raise while only a subpopulation of players in this game are aggressive enough to raise KK or QQ for value. Add in the fact that you are subject to a 4-bet and I think this is an easy call.

Please explain why you think this is a value raise. Do you think that anyone with less than an A does anything but fold to a raise often enough to make the raise for value? I.e., even with KK it seems like a call is the right play for UTG+1 here.

yeah but how easy is that laydown when you get 4 bet? super easy, it's like the guy turned his cards face up. and AJ is less combos isnt cause there's a J out there. but im not gonna do the math cause i get your point. just thought it was worth throwing out there, maybe it's the wrong play, ill defer to you on anything party.
