Default online idiocy

I'm playing in a real money cash game, holding Ac-7d. Table was being passive and I hadn't had a good hand in a long time. I decide to raise heavy because I am the big blind. I raise 5 times the big blind (a pretty substantial sum), and all but one person folds. Flop hits 3c-4d-7h. Other player checks, I bet higher than the original bet. Turn is Ah. Player goes all in, it's autocall at that point, he had 5-2, A-5 straight. He called a raise with 5-2 off. I was speechless. Analyzing the play I made too heavy a raise preflop, but still I should have chased hands like that away so I don't know if I made the right play.
