Default How much should I tip the movers?

I am relocating for work. I move in to the new place tomorrow. My company pays for the movers to pack and load and deliver my stuff.

This means that they box everything up, take clothes out of my closet in the old place and put them in the closets in the new one, etc.

I did not tip them anything when they picked the stuff up because it will be the same guys delivering and I want to see what condition the stuff arrives in before deciding how much to tip if at all.

I only have enough stuff to fill a 700-800 square foot one bedroom apartment. They were able to pack and load all of my stuff onto the truck in about 3 hours and 15 minutes.

What is a standard tip (is tipping standard?) assuming everything is delivered in good shape?

Are there people out there that actually tip these guys?

Yes.

There are two good threads on this either here or in the recent archives. I recommend the OP look them up.

Maybe I don't know how to search properly, but searching on movers returned one thread about Al Pacino, and searching on tip returned way too many unrelated responses.

Search for

+movers +tip

if it's not returned through the search button above, click on "older archives" on the menu to the left. Then click on "recent archives" at that next page. From there, serach again for +movers +tip in OOT.

ok, I found the threads and obviously do not know how to search properly. I was trying to search on tip+mover and getting nothing.

Doing so, returns this thread from the archives. The beautiful part is it's a pokerjo thread.

Why wouldn't you tip these guys? Tipping is just as standard and expected for movers as it is for anyone else you tip.
