Re: What do you need to call? 2/4 Party 6-max
[ QUOTE ]
I play with any pair, even 22. [/ QUOTE ] It's horrible to call with 22 here. There is a huge difference between 22 and 55 in this situation. 22 is a tiny favorite over AKo, but it is also a slight underdog to 97o and Q6s, and it is going to be a clear underdog in a 3-way pot. If we give UTG the range of any ace, any two broadway, and any pair, then 22 would win 28%, the random hand 30%, and UTG 42%. |

Re: What do you need to call? 2/4 Party 6-max
So what would you call/reraise with here pzhon? Its basically a math problem (with some provisions for UTG and the BB) and your numerical posts are beyond reproach.

[/ QUOTE ] Thanks for the compliment, but this doesn't look like a math problem to me. It's unclear what the range of hands to give the UTG player, and unclear how he will react to a call or push. Also, while it is easy to imagine that the tilting player is pushing with any two, I sometimes imitate this when I get a stream of good hands after I lose a big pot. If I have pushed a couple of times and pick up 32o, I might stop, but if I pick up JJ I'm definitely going to push again. Normally, I'm happy to tackle a maniac with weaker hands, but because the limp scares me, I'd only call with AT+, KJ+, 88+. If I were on the button, and the CO similarly open-pushed, I'd call with A8+, KT+, QJ+, slightly weaker suited hands, and 55+. |

Re: What do you need to call? 2/4 Party 6-max
People's ranges are much wider than mine (AKs/o, AQs, 77+). UTG's limp should set off warning bells with anybody in a situation like this. In the hand, I had 88 which seems to be in the bottom range of what people have posted.

Re: What do you need to call? 2/4 Party 6-max
Well, you are at the bottom of my range, so I voted call. I was (pleasantly) surprised to see our ranges were only off by one hand (77 v 88).

Re: What do you need to call? 2/4 Party 6-max
I might as well also say that I think calling is superior to reraising here as it gives me a chance to get away from the hand if BB wakes up with a monster. If BB folds, I'm calling a push from UTG or pushing any flop if he overcalls.

If BB goes all-in then you are getting better than 3-1 (660:215 if I follow stack sizes) to call his push. Do you still fold? I tend to believe I'm way behind and fold, but am I curious if that is just left over thinking from my weak-tight days. |

Re: What do you need to call? 2/4 Party 6-max
This is very similar to considering a bubble push & all-in. Here you must account for the tilt factor. It is very rare to call an all-in with anything less than 88 on the bubble.
