Xorbie can't call with QQ/JJ/AQ because of the risk of AK/AA/KK. I think what Ghazban was trying to do was to get the weaker hand HU and steal the dead money Xorbie put in the pot.

amoeba and crosse approached this differently than I did. I figured xorbie would reraise KK-JJ for sure to isolate (as I could be raising all sorts of crap from the cutoff) and avoid playing a big pot out of position with a fair amount of money behind. Therfore I figured he had AK or AA and Bayes' theorem makes AK a lot more likely. Add in that shorty could easily be sharing at least the ace and I have likely the best hand with a good overlay. If he folds AK, that's fine with me, if he calls, that's not bad either. If he has AA, nh.

maybe I don't know xorbie's play as well as you do but I don't see how any good player calls with AK there unless if he is going by the "my overcall is scarier than an isolation raise" theorem.
also I don't see why he is unable to cold call with KK here. unless if you play differently with xorbie around, I don't think you are calling this raise with suited connectors and the like.

There are 3 hands exctly that I make this call with. AA, KK, AK. That's why I think the push is ugly. JJ/QQ/TT/99 maybe 88 I push in with.
TT vs AA, KK, AK is eh at best, and I think I fold AK sometimes, so the times yuo do get the money in, it's really ugly.
