I was holed up in SF recovering from wisdom teeth extraction, so couldn't go win the tourney today. Sucker stalled his way into just making the money in the limit tourney yesterday. All the 2+2 kids win every day in the 80 game there anyway, so I imagine things were even better this weekend. I would probably rather eat dirt than drive to San Hoser to play limit poker, so I can't provide any first-hand info.

PS: You should come play Shooting Stars this year, Ray. I think it's in March. Then we can be on WPT TV show together.

Default Sucker here, checking in

Frankly, there's not too much to report from me. I played in the Saturday tourney only (1000+50 limit) because the Sun event was sold out as of a week and a half ago when I decided that I would be willing to play. Oh well.

I had a nice brunch that the casino sets up pre-tourney, eggs, bacon, all that stuff. Good start for my day.

As for the tournament, I played very well, but could never get the big hand. I tried to bust Chau several times, and he kept sucking out on me. I got the money in with the best of it every time, though. I didn't ever have any spectacular suckouts or anything really. Just picked my spots and nursed a small stack - stealing blinds. I was in a bad spot with Dan Alspach on my left from 100-30 players, and he was the chip leader. However, I think I was the only one whom he didn't play at too much, despite his mountain of chips (acquired by playing like a maniac, I might add).

I got into hte money (18, paying 1200), and that was cool. I managed to resteal from a very aggro guy, and got up to ~ 30K chips, blinds 1.5-3K. That was cool. I lost a big pot though. Too bad. I raised with JJ in EP, Alspach called two on the button (he had about 65 K). SB 3 bets. I called, and Dan did too. Flop was 3 cards below 5, SB bet, I raised, Dan folded. SB 3 bet, and I called him down. He had TT, but spiked a T on the turn. I was left with 8 chips at that point. There were 16 players left, and 15 paid 300 bucks more than 16th. They weren't goign hand for hand, so I took 5 minutes to fold every hand. Matt Savage was a little irritated, but no players were calling the clock, and it's not my fault that they didn't do hand for hand. I managed to squeeze into 15th, and on my last hand, I got 3 way action with KQ, and had tons of outs, but it wasn't meant to be. Like I said, I played very well, though. I didn't play any side games, because I was tired, and went out drinking with some friends, instead. I did other stuff today, so didn't get down there. As far I as I can tell, the games were the normal crew of degenerates, playing 80-160. Hakee will probably play in cash games today, and he can add something. I had fun, but that was too much effort for 450 bucks.

On my way out, I ran into the Shadow, and said hello. I told him to tell you hello. He's a nice guy.

When Sucker called and told me this, I thought he was talking about stalling into the money. Now that I read this, I agree, weak.

Five minutes was an exaggeration. Really, about 1 minute. 300 bucks is 300 bucks, man. Granted, it's weak, but it's all I had left at that point.

I was down there this afternoon. The 80 game didn't get started until just before 2. Lineup was nothing special, with a noteworthy exception: an unknown Middle Eastern guy who was a superdonk calling station (he was buddies with Sam B, who apparently busted out of the tournament pretty early). I had to leave around 5:30 (coincidentally at the same time the superdonk left). There were around 20-25 players left in the tournament, with a few 80 regulars still in including Chau, Steve Kim and Danny Nguyen (with a lot of chips).
