Default Is it necessary to read TPFAP if you plan on getting HOH?

Obviously when TPFAP came out it was the best book written on the topic but now people say HOHv1 and v2 are the best on the topic. So my question is, is it necessary to read TPFAP, or is HOH all you need to read on tournament poker? I ordered TPFAP using my VIP points on Empire, so I'm basically getting that book for free, so the chances are I'll read it no matter what. From the reviews I've read HOH covers what Sklansky discusses and then some, so I'm under the impression that reading TPFAP isn't all that necessary any longer, am I wrong?

BTW, how does one "use his VIP points on Empire" to get free stuff?

Thanks.

TPFAP is pretty useless if you have HOH 1&2. I think it's kinda useless anyway.

You started with pretty useless, then kinda useless, but you forgot to go the whole circle and come back to "not useless at all, and very much well-worth reading."

You have to be logged in to Empire and you go to Options and you'll see VIP account second from the bottom.

TPFAP inspired the far superior HoH works. If you have some unusual hard on for following the evolution of poker thought in order of its publication, you could read TPFAP first.

Instead, I'd recommend reading HoH vol 1 and 2. Then, when you want some supplemental material and a little bit of a rehash of some ideas (though presented slightly differently), you should TPFAP. TPFAP has some uniquely useful material, but not a whole lot.

One has to give TPFAP credit for inspiring the HoH works just as one has to give TOP credit for inspiring almost every decent written theory on poker in the last 25 years.

No it isn't.

It's the only tournament book you need to read, but there are other books you probably should read also. The 2 ciaffone books spring to mind.

It won't hurt to read it. Although I know a lot of beginner type players that have misunderestood some of the things it said. Mainly relating to close gambles. It's a pretty short book anyway, and doesn't go into any real depth.
