Default Card Rooms near Columbus Ohio?

Ok yea, I'm in Seattle and don't know the Midwest for chit. But you see I've got to do a little travelling this weekend, for a little professional game play if possible.

If they have onsite hotel with card room rate, even better.

There are no cardrooms in columbus ohio. The closest is in indiana, several hours by car.

yep looks like there is an 18 table room outside of Cincy in Indianna that may be my best shot. I figured I'd have to do some driving on Saturday.

Why can't they just hold big football games in Vegas?

Because then there'd be no legal betting on them.

goofball is wrong and is likely not from ohio.

columbus has charity games which are legal that rotate around the city on the weekends. i am not sure of the locations or the hotline to call.

cleveland has the same situation and i know all the information and locations. it is legal, dont worry.

however, cleveland is a 2 hr drive away.

It's true that I'm not from ohio, I did however spend 3 months there, mostly not finding a cardroom. I didn't hear of these charity games however.

Here's what you do when you get into Columbus (if nothing has changed since last year when I still played there)
1. Grab yourself a copy of the Columbus Dispatch, any edition Thursday through Sunday.
2. Open it up to the Classifieds. Look for a section called either "Charity Events" or "Charity Gaming." I can't remember which right now.

In there you should find some games listed. That's how I used to find them; I also had the hotlines but I've since lost the numbers. There are usually 2-3 games listed every week. Typically you're going to deal with 3/6, 5/10, and 10/20. Depending on who's running the show (as there were two main groups) the biggest game will either be 10/20 or possibly a NL game. This, mind you, was all about a year and a half ago when I still went on a weekly basis.

If it so happens that there's a game listed at the Westerville Armory, I'd go there. I know it may sound off-beat, but when I still went there they had 3-4 3/6 tables, 2-3 5/10 and usually 1-2 10/20. Games were fairly soft. The other group that runs games had some friendly folks and good competition. If you run into a guy named Louis Asmo, talk to him. He's a good man. Best of luck.

Oh yeah, and

GO BUCKS

Thanks, Ryan Z. I'm from Columbus and I had no idea this took place...

I used to be very active in Columbus poker. One thing to watch for is dealers over raking. It isn't uncommon for them to take the rake on every street (they jsut throw it in a bucket instead of having a drop slide for it to sit on). In general I would avoid the games in Columbus that aren't in a church. The worst games are the ones run by "Wayne and Jackie."

Yeah, the games listing in the Dispatch is updated every Thursday. I can't recall when the hotline is updated, but that may give you the location and details before Thursday. For instance, in Cleveland, the hotline is updated on Tuesday or Wednesday every week.

Also, on a side note, where are you in Columbus? Perhaps we could give the "sup bro" at some point. If you got any other questions PM me.
