As much as I'd love to needle you on this, I've changed how I stack and have found it helpful in that way too. I kind of did it on accident actually. It can make a difference.

But I could always swing over to your table and knock your great wall of slavic down so you can stack them again... If you need the practice, that is.

I am also constantly aware of how much I have and how much others have, plus I count the pot a little closer.

I'm confused. You said you changed how you stack your chips so that you can't glance and see how many chips you have. Ok, I'm with you that's a decent idea. However then you say you constantly know how many chips you have. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of changing how you stacked the chips?

Constantly aware in NL/PL. Intentionally unaware in Limit.

GoT told me about this, and it's a good idea, but you can still tell in between sessions how much up or down you are, no matter how desheveled you make your chips.

Just dump them in a freezer bag and save them for next time.

Keeping a rack of purple in the freezer causes people to look at you funny.

I'm with you. I've taken to stacking them in a circular "staircase" pattern, with a small stack in front, then each stack clockwise (as I look down at it) is 5 chips higher. The stack in the middle of the circle is the tallest, and I play from that stack (so I don't screw up the +5 heights around the circle).

If I take a bad beat, I tend to re-stack the chips (make a castle, or whatever) so I'm not focused on the beat.

One time, a guy looks at me and asks "You've got what, $650 there?" (why he cared, I dunno. Limit. Maybe trying to figure out if I was up to decide how good I was or something). I told him I honestly had no idea, but then my inner OCD child had to know so I counted it down. He was within $20. Jerk.
