Default blue pants + black shoes = ?

I thought I read in some men's magazine that this is acceptable. But it doesn't look right to me. Someone help me out. Is it kosher? I can never find brown shoes that I like.

You read magazines to help you determine which clothes to wear?

You are a marketing persons dream.

do you mean, like, blue jeans and black shoes...

.... or like navy blue dress pants and black dress shoes.

Obviously, the first case is perfectly normal, but the second.... naaahhhh.

with a blue suit I always wear black shoes. I have seen people pull off the cordovan-reddish shoes with a blue suit, but I have not tried. Black dress shoes are the way to go generally IMO. Black and conservative works.
