It's gonna cost me about £600 ($1100) to get to Vegas. So I was thinking about some options closer to home.

The prices go down a lot (about $650) as soon as you get out of peak season (mid sept). But my new job starts in September.

So basically I have 6 weeks until I start work and I want to go and play poker somewhere interesting. But I don't want to spend a fortune getting there.

I have my online poker bankroll of about $4k, plus another $9k that I could use if I felt I was not seriously outclassed at the table.

I am getting about $20k of signon bonus spread over the next 2years of my new job so I am not too worried if the holiday doesn't pay for itself. But having said that I would be upset if I couldn't at least break even at the table.

So I was wondering what the stakes and games are like in Monte Carlo as I can get there very cheaply (probably under $130).

Thanks for any info.

Tim

Have a look at the POker in Europe site has a list of card rooms, isnt there a big one in Vienna? Might be a nice place to goto and cheap flights (I think Easy Jet go).

Other alternative might be to see where the European tour is the weeks you are interested and go an play there, should be some decent cash games on the go.

Only one abroad (in austria as well)

What about LA or Atlantic City arnt there some big cardrooms there, flights to LA are normally not too bad.

I was in Monte Carlo in early May and none of the main three Casinos had poker rooms much to my chagrine.
On a side note, playing 25 and 50 euro blackjack I came to the conclusion that I encountered the worst blackjack players in the world. If you count, it may not bother you but if your a feel and momentum player, the poor play is irritating.
