Raise the flop to protect from the 9/T/J gutshots and for value.

I think you overanalyzed this. Raising the flop should be automatic here.

than you gain from their extra small bets.

He isn't worried about getting those extra bets from them, he's trying to figure out how to knock them out.

I think this one is covered in SS under sometimes you can't protect your hand and you just raise for value.

Gotta raise the flop, primarily for value, but also to try to shuck any weak ace, one card BDF draws and gutshots.

Agreed. Too many cards can hurt you here (as evidenced by the turn.)

For everyone that says raise the flop like it is a no brainer, I think you should look up SSHE "when the pot is extremely large". There are differences but the SSHE example is not much different than this one. If it wasn't for the Q waiting for the turn would be ok IMO.

I would raise the flop, but I agree it's not incredibly different from the SSHE example you mention. Three important differences though are:

1. The pot is smaller here.
2. There are less gutshots available.
3. There is one fewer opponent.

All of these points make hand protection less important.

However, I really don't think waiting for the turn would be terrible. If we raise the flop, gutshots will be getting 19.5:2 or 9.75:1 (not sure where rake comes in). So as long as the villains can expect to make up 2-3 SB (villains are calling two so implied odds must be doubled, also giving a gutshot full four outs is probably wrong since they will occasionally be outdrawn) on the turn and river, they would still be calling correctly. However, if we wait until the turn, they will no longer be getting correct odds.
