Default Two odd Kill hands 4/8

My local card barn has just set up kill games. The kill occures on a second pot won of $20 or more, and the $20 is not limit specific.

I have just won a nice pot of the blinds, from the BB. Yes that's right $2, the SB pushes the little puck to me, thank you very much. The next hand, one players limps in and I look down and find 76o in the SB. I muck.

A few hands later an SB has had to post a kill blind. Everyone folds to him and he asks the BB if he wants to chop however the house rules say you have to play. So he does the proper thing and raises to $16, and the BB not being a nut folds his $4. However this hit the magic $20 and the SB gets to repost on the Button his $8 kill. Other than checking hte kill and hoping the BB folds (which frankly the BB should almost never do) is there a better solution to this problem?
