Default How long should I spend in Turkey?

OK, I'm leaving 2 weeks tomorrow, can stopover in Istanbul for as long as I want, what are the best places to see in Turkey? It is a pretty big country so I don't think I'll want to venture to the very East of Turkey.

I would want to spend what time I had exploring Istanbul and the Ionian coast. There's really nothing in Ankara so far as I know.

I would definitely recommend taking a day to see Ephesus. Pamukkale is ok, the springs kind of sucked but there were some nice ruins there. I would say that you could spend 4-7 days in Instanbul just doing the tourist stuff (grand bazaar, tokapi, hagia sofi, etc). I would recommend trying a Turkish bath while you're there.

Pictures of Cappadocia look sweet, but that is a long ways away, pretty remote, and known to be a lawless area where bandits will kidnap you. I never went there so I don't know.

I spent 3 days in Kusadsi on the coast, but there really wasn't anything there that you couldn't find on a larger scal in Istanbul.
