side pot w/ the nuts - need a plan. 5/10 6max
UTG ($1600) raises to $30. He's tight postflop, but average preflop. I call on the button w/ Ad3d ($1700). SB calls ($100). BB folds.
Flop ($100). 2d6dKs. SB goeas all-in for $70, UTG calls, I call. Turn ($310). 8d. UTG bets out $100, Hero... UTG has a set, AK, or a smaller flush and has about $1250 left after his bet - what's the best plan? He probably views me as a little crazy - but he knows I won't get too out of line here... |

Re: side pot w/ the nuts - need a plan. 5/10 6max
I think I would call the bet and then overbet the pot to any non- [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] river to try to make it look like I'm on a steal with a busted draw. This risks the board pairing on the river, but I think I'm willing to take that chance. If the river is a [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I just try to sell the hand for what I think he will call. Thoughts?

Raises to $300. He's not putting much in with a pair no matter what, so might as well get the max out of his bigger hands.

Re: side pot w/ the nuts - need a plan. 5/10 6max
Not usually - I'm a sucker for odds in this situation, and if UTG also has a flush draw, I want him in the pot - plus, i have position, so don't mind seeing a turn here. A lot more good can happen with a call than a raise in my mind - although the dead money is tempting - part of the problem is how deep we are, and if I raise and he comes over the top, I'm toast, whereas if I hit and he has a hand, I'll win some good money.

pf and flop look great.
raising this flop when you already have position is no good at all. you have to raise this turn, to at least 300, but i like 350-400 better, let him push with AA or KK. |
