Default Legends of Poker - Controversy at the Bike - NL Capped ??

http://www.cardsquad.com/2005/08/30/...y_at_the_bike/

Tiltboy Perry Friedman writes to RGP:

Subject: Bicycle Casino: Ridiculous Rule ("Stupidest thing I've ever heard")
Author: Perry Friedman

Today in the WTP $5,000 event the floor ruled and announced to the whole room that in No Limit tournament at the Bike, there is a a rule that, get this:

a bet and three raises is a CAP in NO LIMIT!

Can anyone tell me another casino in the world that has a CAP in NO LIMIT?

Perry says that three different floors were called, and they all upheld the ruling, one said "This is a tournament, and TDA rules say there is a bet and three raises."

Perry is willing to bet his life, plus a dollar, that the rule is wrong, and Mike Paulle says, "it might be the stupidest thing I've ever heard."

Might be? I'm pretty sure it is.

Bart and Tuchman, you have some explaining to do...

Just the idea of a bet and three raises in NL without any all-ins sounds ridiculously donkariffic. Denny should have given them all penalties for being morans.

Rule 26 of the TDA rules:
Raises:

In limit events, there will be a limit to raises, even when heads-up. (The limit will be the house limit.) Once the tournament becomes head-up the rule does not apply.

go this quote from the tread in MTT. funny because its true.

[ QUOTE ]
Denny Williams, who I believe is the Tournament Director at the Bicycle Casino, used to comment on Live @ The Bike. Based on some of his comments during the shows, it would not surprise me if he was the one claiming the rule is in the TDA. He's an idiot in my opinion. There was one broadcast where he said he enforces the "show one show all rule" by forcing a player that flashes a single card to the table to show the other card. Ummmm...yeah, that's what that rule means Denny. Idiot.

I guess they want to discourage the baby raises that sometimes happen.

No explaning necessary. Here's what the deal is: the gift shop at the Bike is lagging behind in business, so they come up with this brilliant idea to have a ridiculous rule for the NL tournament. Once they announce the rule, f-bombs drop all over the place, and whilst serving their 15-minute penalties, the players hang around the gift shop because they have nothing better to do, and maybe they buy a little somethin'.

It all fits...

Today (the fourth day of the tournament), it was announced that the rule had been changed and that for the remainder of the event, any number of raises would be allowed.

It took four days, but they finally got it right...

Lets not forget that the creator of the F-word rule is Denny Williams! What a great guy!
