Re: 6-max vs 10-max myths?
for 1) there's a slight adjustment to be made. At a full table, you can probably steal more from the last 4 positions then you could at a 6max game. Most people see 6max as a game where they can be looser preflop. So for example, a CO raise is far more likely to be defended in a 6max structure, than a 10 handed game.

2) never open-limp at 6-handed table or less. [/ QUOTE ] I don't think this is necessarily true. It's more like keeping all the same to hide strength or weakness. If you choose to raise, you should raise with any hand and every hand you play. If you choose to limp, you should limp with every hand for deception when you hold AA or KK. I personally like limping because I prefer postflop play compared to preflop play. |

I just really don't like playing raised pots out of position. [/ QUOTE ] Your position in 6-max is never THAT bad, unless the blinds are the only ones who fold. |

Re: 6-max vs 10-max myths?
Well, I think the most important thing by far in 6 max is selecting who you have position on, and vice versa.

Trying to apply rules etc just sets yourself up for disaster.... [/ QUOTE ] I disagree, I think rules are great as long as you are able to spot change them when needed. |

Re: 6-max vs 10-max myths?
Sure, rules are good, don't call raises with 72o etc... but if you always play by rules your game is stagnant. You become predictable, players always know what you have etc... I'm at the stage where even when I try to vary my play preflop, but it is still basic postflop play, it makes me easily read...sometimes I wish I never learned how to play NL with rules...that's all....it's not a game for rules... you need to be more flexible than that to be good...at least that's what i seem to notice with the true superb players...
