Default Foxwoods vs. Mohegan Sun

Time to try out the new forum. I am in the Boston area, so the only accessible public cardrooms are at the Connecticut tribal casinos (right?). I've played at both, but I've spent much more time at Foxwoods. I played a session at Mohegan yesterday and thought it was great, but I don't have enough time there to make a fair comparison of the two. Does anyone have any comments on how the two compare? Comment on anything, of course, but my primary concern is the $5-10 full kill, since that's what I've been playing (Mohegan only gets that game going on weekends; it goes everyday at FW).

Default Foxwoods has great games..

Bobby,

I have played at both places and I prefer Foxwoods. The Mohegan Sun has a smaller room, and that usually means longer waits. Both places will allow you to call in to add your name to the board.

I played in the Foxwoods 5-10 hold em game with a kill a few weeks ago on a Friday night. The game that night had several loose passive players in the game. Hardly anyone raised, and if a pot did get raised, raising became contagious.

When I played in the Mohegan Sun game, the place only had one game going. I found that the table had 3 or 4 solid players waiting for a live player to come and join the table. Money mostly funneled around the table.

The Foxwoods has at least 2 game going at once. They sometimes add a third "must move" game.

Please post again and let us know what you find.

Best Wishes,

Default Re: Foxwoods vs. Mohegan Sun

These two rooms are night and day.

Strangely enough, for hold'em, Mohegan generally has a $20/$40 that'll get going sometime in the afternoon and run for awhile, but Foxwoods doesn't spread higher than $15/$30 (unless you count $75/$150 mixed as a viable, considerable option, which I--sadly--do not).

For stud, Foxwoods is always spreading a wide range, and is clearly the place to play.

Room-wise, Foxwoods is much more comfortable and competently run. Half the time at Mohegan, the "board" (which is in quotation marks because there is not actually a board, more a "desk" with confused "people") doesn't know which games are running, much less where you are on the list. At least Foxwoods has an actual BOARD.

I like both rooms, but I'd have to say I wouldn't show up at either one without calling ahead to find out what's running AND to have them put my name on the list (which they will actually do, surprisingly).

If my phone was down, I'd go to Foxwoods.
